What if I don’t have a school zekken? 

You should place masking tape over the dojo’s name and write in the school’s name. Masking tape will be available at check-in. 

All participants MUST have a zekken with their school's name  and your zekken last name MUST MATCH your registration last name. You can check your registration last name on your school’s team roster. 

Can I access the gym before or after the tournament? 

No; please refrain from attempting to access the gym outside tournament hours. The facility has also asked that we do not congregate outside the gym before opening hours. See check-in procedures above. 

Where do I get lunch? Where can I park? 

Included within the map of the restaurants around the area (lunch times are set; we suggest ordering ahead!) are a number of locations where parking is typically available. Street parking is free on Sunday in most locations. Please read signs before you park.

Can my friends and family come watch? 

Yes; spectators are allowed during the tournament. For guaranteed access, spectators should go in the morning with their school to check-in, where they can receive stamps for access and re-entry. Otherwise, spectators can inform the front desk at the MAC that they are here for “Harvard Kendo Tournament", although we cannot guarantee facilities will grant entry. NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED IN THE GYM except service animals. 

Can spectators participate in godogeiko (if time permits)?

No; spectators should not participate in godogeiko. We ask that godogeiko be reserved for participants and volunteers. Thank you for understanding.

What if my friends and family can’t come in person? 

We will be livestreaming the matches (barring any technical difficulties). Links to the livestream will be available on the Shoryuhai website and posted on Discord each day. .

Can I leave my bogu, shinai and other belongings in the Malkin Athletic Center overnight on Saturday?

Not recommended. There are no security guards in the Malkin Athletic Center overnight, so we suggest that you refrain from leaving valuables in the tournament area. Neither the HRKC nor the Malkin Athletic Center will be held responsible for any loss, theft or damage to property.

Will there be godogeiko? 

Maybe, if time permits. We have to exit the gym by a certain time each day so that is the limitation. 

Does EVERYONE need to go to registration or can I send one rep?

Yes, everyone is required to go in order to sign the facility waivers for access to the gym.

Does everyone have to go to registration both days if you were already there on Sat?

Yes, everyone is required to go in order to sign the facility waivers for access to the gym.

Are masks required?

Masks or men shield are optional. 

Is there space to change?

There are changing rooms in the basement, as well as bathrooms on the 4th floor.

Are there showers?

Yes, there are showers in the basement.
